When you manually cast a spell, manipulate the abacus

If the spell's level is odd, subtract that many beads

If the spell's level is even, add that many beads

When the number of beads on the abacus equals the realm number, reset the abacus and trigger the on pickup effect of one of the components used to craft it

The Artificer's Abacus can only be activated while the turn number is less than the realm number
